THE MAZAMAS FOUNDATION The Mazamas were founded by plucky group of mountain climbers (Mazama is the Aztec word for mountain goat) in Oregon in 1894. They're dedicated to preserving the high country of the Pacific NW and it was they who were instrumental in having Crater Lake declared a National Park in 1902. The Foundation is the financial arm of this non-profit.
